About this song
"Me and Michael" is the fourth single from MGMT's fourth studio album, Little Dark Age, released on February 7, 2018. It came with a conceptual music video in which Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser plagiarize a fictional song called "Ako at si Michael" by the Philippine band TrueFaith. In a 2018 Q Magazine interview, the band said it was inspired by their love of European synth pop, and the song was originally titled "Me and My Girl" before they changed it because they found that title too boring and cheesy.
