About this song
The song was released as the fourth single from the album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, on February 19th, 1996. It was later included in the compilations Stop the Clocks in 2006 and Time Flies… 1994-2009 in 2010. Noel Gallagher has said he was under the influence of illegal substances when he wrote it, and he still claims not to know what the lyrics mean. In late May 2017, a crowd of Mancunians sang it after a minute of silence for the victims of a terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert, and it came to symbolize Manchester's spirit and resistance.
