About this song
Wonderwall was released as the third single from Oasis's album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? The song's title was taken from the 1968 film Wonderwall, for which George Harrison provided the soundtrack, called Wonderwall Music. Before the song got its final name, it was titled Wishing Stone.
What it's about
Noel Gallagher said in 1996 that the song was about his girlfriend Meg Matthews, but after their divorce in 2001 he described it as being about an imaginary friend who would come to save you from yourself. Other listeners have read it as being about Gallagher talking himself out of leaving the band, or about his relationship with Liam Gallagher.
