About this song
The song was a chart-topper in the US and the UK, and reached number one in at least six other countries overseas in spring 1980. It is thematically similar to the preceding song "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" and the earlier "Part 1", and one radio edit combines both songs. Producer Bob Ezrin added a kick drum on every beat, and David Gilmour credits Ezrin with the song's disco-influenced sound, while Roger Waters is more reluctant to call it disco.
