About this song
Doris Troy, Lesley Duncan, Liza Strike and Barry St John provided the backing vocals, which were processed through an early pitch-changing device called a Frequency Translator. Animator Ian Emes commissioned an animated film that was projected during live performances of the song. It is the only track on the album that credits all four members of the band.
What it's about
The song is about how time can slip by, often without people noticing until it is too late. Roger Waters came up with the idea when he realized that he was no longer preparing for life but was already in the middle of it at 29.
