The Less I Know The Better

About this song

Kevin Parker has said the song doesn't belong on the album because it has a dorky, white disco funk sound. It is nonetheless the most popular track on Currents, helped by its breakout music video that fuses psychedelia, sex appeal, high school angst and a man in a gorilla costume. The song was released as a radio single on November 29, 2015, and was voted number 1 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of the decade.

What it's about

The narrator, voiced by Parker, hears that the woman he wants is seeing someone named Trevor and feels left out in the love triangle. The song's title reflects his insecurity: the more he learns about her romantic life, the more it dominates his thoughts. He believes he would be the better long-term partner, though his patience won't last forever.
