About this song
The song was featured on the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, which helped bring The Cardigans international attention. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay and Top 40 Mainstream charts but could not enter the Hot 100 because it was not released as a commercial single in the US. Nina Persson wrote the lyrics and Peter Svensson wrote the music; Persson was inspired while waiting in an airport, and Svensson recalled that it was meant to be a slow bossa nova before the disco drums and production made it shinier.
What it's about
The narrator thinks no ill of the person they love and admits that this makes them a fool, a idea that echoes Shakespeare's Sonnet LVI.
