ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?

About this song

The track closes the album, and its starting key of B-flat ends where the album's opening song, IGOR'S THEME, begins in E-flat, creating a seamless transition when the two are played back-to-back. Pharrell Williams has appeared on every Tyler record since 2013, and he is featured on this track. Jack White performed the guitar solo, and the song samples Al Green's Dream, emulating its keys, guitar, and backing vocals.

What it's about

Tyler wrestles with whether he and a former lover can remain friends, wrapping up the album's arc of falling in love, losing that love, trying to convince himself he is over it, and then bargaining to keep them in his life.
