EARFQUAKE

About this song

EARFQUAKE is a collaboration between Tyler, The Creator and Playboi Carti. Tyler explained in an interview with Rick Rubin on his podcast Broken Record that the title came from a real earthquake that happened while he was writing the song, and he then changed the "th" to an "f." He said at a concert hosted by Apple Music with IGOR presentation that he wrote it for Justin Bieber, who turned it down, and that Rihanna also declined it.

What it's about

The song finds Tyler singing about a lover he depends on, even though he knows he hasn't treated them well. It mixes cheery piano chords with heavy, distorted drums, blending styles from his albums Cherry Bomb and Flower Boy.
