About this song
"U Got It Bad" is the second single from Usher's album 8701 and became a Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper. Jermaine Dupri, who co-wrote and co-produced the song, has said he aimed to follow up the success of "Nice & Slow" with a similar but improved version of that sound.
What it's about
The song is inspired by a true story: Usher was distracted in the studio by a girl he had brought along, and after an argument she left, only for the two to start talking on the phone later. Dupri, seeing Usher's distraction, sent him out of the studio and then wrote the lyrics that became the song.
