2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted

About this song

Engineer Dave Aron recalled that Suge Knight brought 2Pac and Snoop Dogg together in the studio, which led to the song being made. Engineer Rick Clifford said 2Pac wanted the album recorded spontaneously, with everyone getting one take, and Snoop Dogg recorded his part on a later day after preparing at home. The song was released on May 7, 1996, as the second single from All Eyez On Me, and it reached #46 on Billboard's Hot Rap/R&B Airplay chart. Its music video opens with 2Pac confronting parody versions of The Notorious B.I.G. and Puff Daddy, a nod to the Scarface scene.

What it's about

The song celebrates 2Pac and Snoop Dogg's freedom from the prison system, with Snoop having been acquitted of murder charges in February 1996 and 2Pac released from prison in October 1995 after a sexual assault conviction.
