All Eyez On Me

About this song

The title track of 2Pac's album All Eyez on Me samples Linda Clifford's "Never Gonna Stop", a sample also used for Nas' "Street Dreams", released a few months later in July 1996. Producer Johnny J recalls that it was the first track he laid down when he met 2Pac at Death Row shortly after 2Pac's release from prison, and that the beat was put in the drum machine within the first 15 minutes of the session.

What it's about

The song reflects the media attention on 2Pac's life at the time, including the intrigue around his release from prison, his signing with Death Row Records, and the feud between the West Coast and East Coast camps.
