lovely

About this song

The song is the second track on the 13 Reasons Why: Season 2 soundtrack and premiered on Zane Lowe's World Record feature on Apple Music's Beats 1 radio station on April 19, 2018. FINNEAS produced it, and he was present with Billie Eilish and Khalid while they wrote it. It was released as a single and also appeared in the last episode of the show's second season, and it was featured in season one, episode two of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

What it's about

The lyrics focus on the two singers trying to overcome depression. Eilish has said the title is ironic, since the song is so bleak that calling it lovely feels like a way of finding humor in misery.
