About this song

"i n t e r l u d e" is the second single from J. Cole's sixth studio album, The Off-Season. Cole revealed the song's release and cover less than eleven hours before it came out, with a post saying he had planned to drop the album all at once but decided to release the song that night. Despite its label, it is the second shortest song on the album, after "p u n c h i n ' . t h e . c l o c k."

What it's about

On the brief track, Cole raps about his come-up and his presence at the top of the rap game. The single verse also touches on personal trauma, the pain of loss, death and religion.
