Let Nas Down

About this song

The song followed Nas reportedly being disappointed that J. Cole had moved away from lyricism with his radio single "Work Out." No I.D. was present when Nas voiced his displeasure and later passed Nas's opinion on to Cole by phone. Cole, who had often spoken of his love for Nas, took the criticism to heart and released the song. Nas later responded with a flattering remix of it and passed the torch to Cole.

What it's about

The song is Cole's answer to the criticism that he had abandoned lyrical substance for radio success.
