About this song
Boyfriend was the first single released from Justin Bieber's 2012 album Believe. The song drew a lot of attention for its sound, which was quite different from his earlier material. Its music video showed him driving expensive cars and dancing with women, a departure from his previous work.
What it's about
The song marks a shift away from Bieber's image as a young pop star with a high-pitched voice, signaling the start of a new, more mature era for him. His fans grew up with the change and embraced the more mature but still catchy music.
