It was released as the first single from the album Danger Days on September 28, 2010, and became one of the band's most successful singles. It reached number one on the US Rock chart, number nine on the Japan Hot 100, and number 69 on the European Hot 100.
The song's music video casts the band as the Killjoys, who fight a corporation called Better Living Industries. The video ends in a standoff where the characters appear to die, but they are very much alive and the story continues in the video for "Sing."
