Something In The Way

About this song

The song is the final track on Nevermind, not counting the hidden track "Endless, Nameless." Producer Butch Vig recalled that Cobain, frustrated with the original recording process, lay on his back in the control room and demonstrated how he wanted the 12-string acoustic guitar to sound, and Vig set up microphones to capture it. Rolling Stone later ranked the song at #5 on its ranking of every Nirvana song.

What it's about

Many fans assumed the lyrics were autobiographical, about a period of vagrancy in Cobain's life, but Cobain described the concept as being like living under a bridge while dying of AIDS and being a street person, more a fantasy than a memory.
