About this song
PROM / KING is the ninth track on Saba's sophomore album CARE FOR ME. The song is a tribute to his friend, cousin and fellow Pivot Gang member John Walt.
What it's about
The track recalls Saba's first prom, where he was threatened by his date's brother, and the importance of family and how he grew closer to Walt. The second half traces the events leading up to Walt's fatal stabbing in early 2017, including time spent working on the Bucket List Project and being in the studio with Legit when Walt was killed.
