About this song
Saba released "Ziplock" as the first track of a two-song package, his first release of 2021. He teased the song three days before the official release with a short snippet shared on Twitter and Instagram, and premiered it on YouTube in a two-part music video a day before the package arrived on streaming services.
What it's about
The first verse reflects on a realization Saba had in California about his rough upbringing in Chicago, while the second describes his new life in a place where he can experiment more freely. The chorus ties these together, contrasting his past around ziplocks used to carry drugs with his present ability to afford an expensive watch.
