Big Poppa

About this song

"Big Poppa" was released as the second single from Ready To Die, following the success of the album's lead single "Juicy." It marked a shift from the hardcore style of Biggie's early work to a smoother West Coast G-funk sound, and it became his first Top 10 pop hit, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1995.

What it's about

The song finds The Notorious B.I.G. taking on a ladies' man persona. Its title is based on one of his many nicknames.
