About this song
"Juicy" is the first single from The Notorious B.I.G.'s debut album, Ready to Die. The beat samples Tony Humphries' "Fruity Instrumental" remix of Mtume's 1983 hit "Juicy Fruit", and the chorus reworks Mtume's chorus with slightly different words, sung by the R&B girl group Total, who are not credited.
What it's about
The song tells the story of a rapper's own rise to the top. It is also presented as a account of how hip-hop itself became popular.
