Call Out My Name

About this song

The song samples The Weeknd's Oscar-nominated "Earned It" over a slow, piano-driven beat produced by Frank Dukes, who had also worked with The Weeknd on his previous album Starboy. A sample from Nicolás Jaar's "Killing Time", from his 2016 album Sirens, opens the track and runs through it, giving it a melancholic, atmospheric feel.

What it's about

The song finds the narrator struggling to let go of a past relationship. He knows his former partner put less effort into it than he did, yet he still secretly wishes she needed him as much as he still needs her.
