About this song
"Heathens" premiered in June 2016 as the first new single from twenty one pilots after their 2015 album Blurryface and its singles. The song was tied to the DC film Suicide Squad and appears on the movie's original soundtrack. The music video was filmed in a real-life prison, with actual prisoners appearing in it.
What it's about
The song is read as a warning against judging others, since everyone hides their pain in some way. It is also seen as a message to the band's dedicated fanbase, the Clique, urging them to be empathetic toward new fans rather than quick to call them fake.
