Grenade

About this song

"Grenade" is the second single from Bruno Mars' debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Bruno said he came to the song through his friend, songwriter Benny Blanco, who played him a song with a lyric that struck him. Bruno then wrote his own version of it.

What it's about

The song is a heartbreak story about loving someone deeply who doesn't love back, leaving the singer wondering what he is doing wrong. He describes going to extreme lengths for her and asking why he can't get the same kind of love in return.
