About this song
"Everybody Dies" was released on the Behind-the-Scenes documentary "Eyez," which was exclusively available on Tidal. J. Cole produced the beat, which samples Minnie Riperton's "Inside My Love" and also drums from Dexter Wansel's "Theme From the Planets." In an interview with Angie Martinez, Cole said the song was originally meant to be part of his upcoming sixth studio album, The Fall Off.
What it's about
The interlude takes aim at other members of the rap community, particularly rappers often called "mumble rappers," and expresses Cole's disapproval of where hip hop is heading. Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert and 21 Savage are named as possible targets.
