Glory

About this song

Glory is the second track on God Does Like Ugly. JID first announced the song in a tweet, noting that it features a choir. In an interview with Complex News, he explained that the sampled choir had originally declined to take part because of profanity, which is why the song contains none.

What it's about

The song looks at JID's Christian upbringing and religious values as a struggling man in Atlanta. It sets his own changed life, marked by wealth, club nights and label meetings, against his brother's path from crime in Atlanta back to prison, with the brother's fate featured in the final verse.
