WRK

About this song

WRK serves as the lead single for JID's fourth studio album, God Does Like Ugly, and is his first solo commercial release since 2022's The Forever Story. The track was first previewed on April 4, 2025, at JID's pop-up booth at Dreamville Fest, alongside the unreleased track DRP. Two weeks later, on April 14, he revealed the album cover and release date in a promotional video.

What it's about

The song is about JID getting back into the creative process and finding motivation in his craft after his last album, which he has said left him feeling he had not received what he deserved and sent him into a dark place. It acknowledges that reaching his ambitions takes relentless work, and he embraces that grind as a way to reclaim his self-worth.
