Battle Scars

About this song

Guy Sebastian wrote the song with Lupe Fiasco in mind as the rap feature, having admired Lupe's story-driven lyrics. It was released in Australia as a single from Guy Sebastian's album Armageddon on August 10, 2012, and later in the US and UK as the fourth single from Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1.

What it's about

The song is about the personal battle scars everyone carries, which can take the form of words, labels or relationship wounds. It encourages listeners to confront those scars and to bury or throw away the labels that hold them.
