About this song
"vampire" is the lead single from Olivia Rodrigo's second album, GUTS, and marked her comeback after her 2021 debut album, SOUR. A few lyrics were released gradually through her website, merchandise and social media before the full song came out.
What it's about
The song describes a boy who took advantage of the narrator, lied to her and used her. A vampire metaphor, shown in the title, lyrics and cover art, captures how he drained her and left her feeling powerless, touching on vulnerability, self-discovery and breaking free from toxic relationships.
