About this song
The song is the third track on A Moon Shaped Pool and is the second Radiohead album to place a song about extraterrestrial spacecraft in that position, after OK Computer's Subterranean Homesick Alien. The lyrics are also described as personal, seeming to speak directly to a woman from Thom's past, who may be Rachel Owen, his former partner of 23 years.
What it's about
The song uses the imagery of a UFO and extraterrestrial matter to explore humanity's questions and darkness. The title may refer to the decks of a spaceship that are perhaps unmanned, dark and lifeless.
