About this song
The song's title is a play on Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues", though the two songs have little else in common.
What it's about
Thom describes feeling isolated or different from the people around him. He wishes an alien colony would take him away so he could watch life silently rather than take an active part in it.
