About this song
"Say It Ain't So" is the third and final single from Weezer's 1994 debut album. It was ranked #10 on Pitchfork Media's Top 200 Tracks of the 90s and #72 on Rolling Stone's The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time in 2008.
What it's about
The song was first believed to be a story of teenage despair caused by a father's alcoholism tearing the family apart. Rivers Cuomo later explained that the idea came from a misunderstanding over a photograph of his father posing with a beer and cigar, and that his father never drank.
