heart pt. 6

About this song

This is the sixth entry in Kendrick Lamar's ongoing 'The Heart' series, and it followed Drake's own track 'THE HEART PART SIX', which mocked the series during their public feud in 2024. Drake deleted the Instagram post promoting his song shortly after release, which many took as a sign he had accepted defeat. Kendrick's version drops the word 'The' and is written in lowercase, a change that may have been made to avoid confusion with Drake's track.

What it's about

Rather than addressing the rap battle, the song reflects on Kendrick's early years in the industry and his eventual departure from Top Dawg Entertainment and Black Hippy. It keeps to the series' original aim of sharing his thoughts on culture and his personal life.
