About this song
The song follows the track "For Sale?" and picks up after Kendrick's poem that closes it. It is reminiscent of 2Pac's "Dear Mama" from the 1995 album Me Against the World, and both songs sit ninth on their respective track lists.
What it's about
The song marks Kendrick's personal growth and self-realisation after getting through the inner struggles he calls "Lucy". The line about returning home can be read as a return to Compton, a return to Africa, or a return to his pre-fame self.
