Money Trees

About this song

The song was later followed by a sequel titled Money Trees Deuce, released on Jay Rock's 2015 album 90059. Its chorus line about the shooter also refers to Kendrick Lamar's Uncle Tony, who was shot and killed at Louie's Burgers.

What it's about

The song recounts a home robbery, a bragging encounter with a woman, and a run of jumping people who looked wealthier. Its chorus warns that the person who pulls the trigger gets the respect, while the one in front of the gun is the one who lives on.
