About this song
The chorus samples a children's choir from Martika's "Toy Soldiers." The song's visuals end by honoring Big L, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, and Bugz, a founding member of Eminem's group D12 who was murdered in May 1999. The video also depicts Proof being shot, which became reality less than a year and a half later when Proof was killed in a bar during a drunken altercation over pool.
What it's about
The song emphasizes the importance of friendship and loyalty to those Eminem respects during times of conflict. It presents a more restrained, peaceful stance than his earlier, more combative persona.
