Survival

About this song

The song was debuted exclusively in a trailer for the 2013 Call of Duty installment Ghosts. It continued Eminem's ties to the franchise, which had earlier featured "Till I Collapse" in a Modern Warfare 2 launch trailer, "Won't Back Down" in Black Ops, and a performance of "Love The Way You Lie" with Rihanna at the 2010 E3 Black Ops press conference.

What it's about

Eminem uses the Darwinian idea of natural selection, "survival of the fittest," as a motif to argue that he is one of rap's fittest rappers, which he says is why he has lasted in the game for almost two decades. Animal and fighting references run through the track as he places himself at the top of rap's food chain.
