About this song
"We Made You" is styled after Eminem's 2000 hit "The Real Slim Shady" and serves as comic relief on the 2009 album Relapse, following the album's darker serial killer theme. It comes right after "Same Song & Dance" in the album's sequence.
What it's about
The song is a love-hate letter to pop culture, arguing that celebrities are no better than their fans and so don't deserve to be admired too much, which gives Eminem reason to tear their reputations apart. Placed after "Same Song & Dance," it may also be read as suggesting that the violent alter ego Slim Shady fathered the rapper Eminem.
